Who We Are

TBU Library is the largest specialized library in the Zlín region. It serves almost 6,000 users, most of whom are university students and employees, but also about 690 readers from the professional community. The library is open six days a week and, in 2023, recorded more than 79,000 visits.

The collection includes around 148,000 books, two hundred printed newspapers and magazine titles, and all our university students’ electronic theses. One hundred scientific databases of thousands of articles, prestigious scientific journals, and e-books are available via the TBU Library. We also provide a large range of training and consulting, enable interlibrary loan services from other libraries in the Czech Republic and abroad, and offer various other services.

The Library resides in the University Centre (U13) and offers 500 reader seats, 200 with computers, and others are provided with network and power points for readers to connect their notebook computer to the Internet. A network printer, a photocopier, and a scanner are available to the library users. The Library also offers six individual reading rooms (two rooms on each floor), relaxation rooms, a living room, textbooks and other promotional assortment store or children’s corner. The Library has an on-site reading room in Uherské Hradiště.

A special library department is the Bata Information Center, located on the 4th floor of the library. It gives the public an overview of Tomas Bata’s personality and all aspects of the Bata company in Zlin, Czechoslovakia, and worldwide from 1894 to the present.

The library also includes the TBU University Press, which offers the publishing of publications, the sale of textbooks, the printing of study materials, and services related to the printing and binding of the final student theses.
