FAQ
No one is perfect. And even the final thesis templates have their flaws. Even though we tried to make everything as easy as possible for you, we may have overlooked something, or we may not even know about some problems, and they have been causing problems for years. That’s why we have prepared answers and solutions for those things that may annoy you and that we already know about. We appreciate your understanding.
I want to update the Contents of my work in Word, but as soon as I update it, the content disappears
Therefore, some of your settings have been adjusted for this language, but the template needs settings based on the Czech environment. There is a simple solution that will help you with this.
Problem solution: Use the Control Panel function to find the region/area setting option and change the default list separator setting.
- Launch the Control Panel application: In Windows 10/11, click the search icon on the taskbar and type Control Panel in the search field. Select the Control Panel application from the list of results. Instead of the search icon, you can also click the Start icon and start typing “Control Panel”. The result should be the same in both cases.
- If viewing by Category, find the Clock and Region item (in Windows 10, Clock, Language, and Region) and select Change date, time, or number formats.
If you are viewing by Small icons or Large icons, click the Region icon.
- In the dialog box that appears, click Additional settings.
- The List separator item must have the value ; (semicolon). If there is some other value (e.g., comma), overwrite it with a semicolon or select it from the drop-down list. Then confirm everything by clicking Apply and then OK.
- If you succeeded in everything, updating the content in Word should work immediately.
- If this solution does not help you, try writing to us, and we will look into it together.
Our tip: Setting the list separator in the system can affect, for example, the behavior of formulas in Excel. If you ever encounter broken formulas in a spreadsheet editor, click here for advice.
I want to delete the Appendices and their list in Word (or I want to delete all the final parts after the Bibliography), but I will delete the header in the entire work
Problem solution: Pay attention to the settings of the end (beginning) of sections and pages in the template, then everything will work for you. Check out our instructions; you will be able to do it.
- Open your document in Word and move to the final part of your work.
- Please move to the place in your document where your work should end (e.g., the Bibliography is the last list you use, and you want to delete everything after it).
- Click the mouse on the space after the finished list. Then select the Layout tab on the ribbon and click on Breaks. From the menu, choose Continuous.
- Use the mouse to select all the remaining sections you want to delete and use the keyboard and the DELETE key to delete them. If you are left with a blank page after deleting the lists, the BACKSPACE key will help you.
- If you do everything correctly, the header will remain in place,
- If this solution does not help you, try writing to us, and we will look into it together.
Our tip: We recommend that you only make these adjustments when your work is finished, and you know which lists and sections will be helpful to you.
I want to delete only some lists in Word
Problem solution: This is quite simple. You will see for yourself.
- Open your document in Word and move to the final part of your work.
- Please find the list you want to delete (in our case, we delete the List of Tables and the List of Abbreviations).
- Use the mouse to select the entire list you want to delete, including the heading. Then, use the keyboard and the DELETE key to delete it. If you see a blank page, press the DELETE key again until you see another list.
- If you do everything correctly, only the lists you want to be there should remain in your work.
- If this solution does not help you, try writing to us, and we will look into it together.
Our tip: We recommend that you only make these adjustments when your work is finished, and you know which lists and sections will be helpful to you.
