The interactive way through the library
10. November 2022Do you often wander the library with a piece of paper or smartphone in hand and can’t find the book you are looking for? Well, we’re not surprised, there are over 146,000 books in the library, in addition, we bought several new shelves and rearranged the reading room. But don’t worry, we thought of you, so read on!
To make your wandering and searching more straightforward, we have prepared library collections layouts to help you orient yourself in a subject or a field of interest. And there are also new QR codes that will make your journey through the library more interactive.
Interactive library collections layouts
The interactive library collections layout will help users with quick orientation in the library’s collection and fields of interest. They are for users who have already found the books they need in the catalog. They have written down their call numbers but need to know where these call numbers are located (e.g., they are looking for a book with the signature 005/Doe). The interactive library collections layout displays the entire floor. Clicking on a shelf on the layout will show the range of call numbers on that shelf, so users will know that if they want to take home the book with the 005/Doe call number, they need to go to shelf number 2 on the 2nd floor.
The list of call numbers in the English language can be found on the sides of the shelves (the name of the field that corresponds to the call number is always next to the call number). This will help you with the orientation. The beginning of each call number is marked directly on the bookshelf on a particular shelf.
Some of you have also already discovered a gadget we have for you in the catalog. In the details of our book records, after clicking on the “Map it” button, you will get a map that will show the exact location where the book is on the floor.
