Library. You won’t find a better place!

Are you looking for a place to study, work and relax? Where can you find abundant of information in the offline and online world? Where can you grab a bite to eat or take a nap? Where can you always find help when you need it? Where someone always smiles at you when you’re having a bad day? So look no further. The library is the right place for all of you. Six days a week, morning and evening. You won’t find a better place. Don’t you believe it?

For the First Time at the Library?

The TBU Library resides in University Centre (U13) and has 3 floors. The main entrance is located on the 2nd floor. Everyone must enter and exit the TBU Library through turnstiles using the ID card of student/employee/reader. The open shelf collection of books and textbooks (textbooks are on th furthest shelves on the left side) is situated on the 2nd floor. You can borrow these documents usually for 30 days. The study room is located on the 3rd floor. Newspapers and magazines are on the 4th floor.

There are over 200 PCs with internet access, over 500 seats equipped with a socket, Wi-Fi access (requires registration to the Eduroam network via the TBU website), relaxation rooms and individual reading rooms in our library.

Opening hours: Monday–Thursday (8 am–7 pm), Friday (8 am–6 pm), Saturday (9 am–2 pm). And we extended the opening hours of the 4th floor for the whole week!

If you are a first-year student and you have never been at our library before and want to use the library services, go to  the 2nd floor and register at the loan desk (library registration is free for you and you only need to have your student card with you).

You can now study, work and relax much longer on the 4th floor of our library. The 4th floor is open for you for the whole week! For access to the floor even outside the ordinary opening hours, you only need to register in advance at the loan desk on the 2nd floor.

How to find a book?

There are over 146,000 books available in the Library. To find a book on the shelf it is necessary to find out its availability, location and call number. You can get this information from the electronic catalogYou can also have a library catalogue and a reader’s account on your mobile — just open katalog.k.utb.cz in your favorite browser.

An online world of quality information and resources

Available through the Information Resources Portal (login is the same as for STAG). Diploma theses submitted in 2005 and later are stored in electronic form in the Digital library.

Všechny e-knihy na jednom místě

E-books purchased by the University Library (or e-books to which the University has access) are accessible through a single e-book portal. All e-books are available from one place. The portal recognises whether you are accessing via IP addresses within the University computer network or outside the University. In that case, it will offer you convenient remote access itself.

Internet, wi-fi and printing, copying, scanning

When you want to use the Internet sit down to any unoccupied computer (except computers reserved for serching in the electronic catalogue on the left side of the desk) and log in to the university network (STAG login).

In case you have your own notebook you can connect using cable (you can borrow one at the reference desk) or use the Wi-Fi connection — registration through the TBU Information Technology Centre website.

There are three printers in our library (all include a xerox and a scanner). The first one is located on the open shelf collection floor, the second one is on the study room floor and the third one is on the second study room floor. You can use all of them for both colour or black and white printing. Copying and printing are paid services, scanning is free of charge. The services are paid for by the credit on your student’s ID card.

Everyone wants university bomber jackets, hoodies, T-shirts … We have these things in our library store on the 4th floor. TBU University Press

The TBU University Press is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 AM to 11.30 AM and from 12.30 PM to 3 PM. In addition to the regular services, you can also use online services (e.g., order a cheap print). Please write us an e-mail at tisk@nakladatelstvi.utb.cz.
