The lockdown: the library is closed again, unfortunately

Oh no. It’s here again. From Thursday, October 22, 2020 the TBU Library (including  the reading room in UH, TBU University Press and library store) is closed. We know you have a lot of questions. That’s why we have written the answers to the most important and the most painful questions right here.

Right now, it’s not possible to access the library or order picking books. While the library is closed, we recommend you to use the electronic resources made available by the library. We currently offer almost a hundred scientific databases containing thousands of articles from reputable scientific journals and e-books. The databases are also available from your home via the Remote Access service at proxy.k.utb.cz.

  • use your university account to log in via Single Sign-On (Shibboleth)
  • choose a database you want to search from the list of resources
  • unless you want to restrict your search to one specific resource, you can use our e-resources search engine directly from our catalogue interface (make sure to log in)

You can check the list of all databases for their descriptions. We currently offer several new permanent resources and resources in Trial Access for you to use in your research.

If I currently have books at home that will need to be returned, what should I do?

Books that you have at home that should be returned (e.g. books that are checked out till November 2), can be renewed for one month. For that, sign in to your user account via our catalogue at katalog.k.utb.cz. If that is not possible (e.g. the book has been renewed more than twice or a reservation has been put on it), books will be automatically renewed until Friday, November 20.

The books from the reading room on the 3rd floor have a return date on Friday, November 13 (newer ones on Friday, November 27). These books must be returned within the specified deadline, there is no possibility of renewal.

If you need any help regarding the renewing or returning of books during this quarantine period, you can contact us via e-mail knihovna@utb.cz or using the phone number +420 57 603 4805, or +420 57 603 2889.
