For Academics
You can find all the important information, news, links and guides on the library website. Subscribe to the newsletter to make sure that you don’t miss any news. If you’re stuck, contact us at knihovna@utb.cz.
You can search for documents in the library collections using the online catalog. You can also use it to log into your reader’s account where you can check all your loans, reservations etc.
Research and Development
Advancement of science and research is one of the priorities of the university. This section will answer your questions about requirements for publishing scientific articles and related documents — about evaluation of published results, where and how to publish, how to report results, where to find information on citations, etc.
Repository of TBU Publications
To showcase the results of TBU science and research, the library manages a repository of TBU publications that contains bibliographic and full-text records of scientific results subject to national evaluation criteria. If you’d like to have your article added to the repository, contact us at publikace@k.utb.cz.
ORCID Identifier
ORCID ID is a unique, permanent identifier of a publishing author (researcher). An increasing number of member organizations (publishers, scientific research institutes etc.) which include it in their processes (e.g. the publishing processes) is a testimony to the current need to have an ORCID identifier. The Library offers a service to regularly update your list of publications in our authors’ ORCID accounts to make them as complete as possible.
Electronic Information Resources
The TBU Library manages subscriptions to many licensed electronic information resources from various disciplines. There’s a list of dozens of prestigious databases on our Information Resources Portal. You can also use it to conveniently search for content from all available databases.
Licensed e-resources are accessible from computers in the TBU network. To access them from computers outside the university network, you need to use Remote Access.
ProQuest RefWorks
ProQuest RefWorks bibliographic manager is a sophisticated web tool for storing, managing, and using bibliographic records of documents. It makes it easy to reuse, record, organize, edit the records and share them with colleagues or students.
You can get records into RefWorks in several ways. The fastest and easiest is direct export from online databases. It is equally easy to export data from our Information Resources Portal. You can also search our library catalog via RefWorks.
Interlibrary Loan Service
Documents not available in the TBU Library or the František Bartoš Regional Library can be borrowed through the interlibrary loan service (ILL). Published documents such as books, journal articles and conference papers may be requested via ILL. Articles and papers are provided to patrons as a hard copy. It is not possible to request theses and dissertations, full issues of journals, standards, patents, utility models etc.
Please use the online request form in our catalog for ordering ILLs.
Long-term Loans
University employees can ask for so-called long-term loans. These are for publications purchased by the relevant department, not by the Library. The publications are, however, kept on record in the library catalog and become part of library collections (i.e. subject to the rules of the library – compensation in case of loss, ILL requests, etc.). The lending term ends with the termination of the employee’s contract.
You can see an overview of all loans (long-term and regular) by logging in to your library catalog account. If you no longer need a long-term loan, you can return it at any time. Transfers of long-term expenses among employees are possible with the written consent of both parties.

Acquisition of Books
If a library is missing a publication, you can suggest us to purchase it for Library collections.
Literature Search Service
If you’d like to have a list of resource for a given topic compiled, you can request the literature search service. We search in scientific databases and library catalogs. You’ll receive a document with a list of bibliographic records. We can only provide full texts of electronic resources for documents from databases subscribed by the TBU Library.
Use this online form to request the library search service.
