About Our Collections
The Library of Tomas Bata University in Zlín builds up a specialized collection of technical literature aimed at meeting the information needs of educational, scientific and research activities of the University. Within the University, the Library carries out the following activities: Central acquisition, processing, maintenance and protection of the Library collection, and provides access to the collection. The Library involves 12 smaller departmental libraries housing collections of scientific and specialized literature.
The Library collections include traditional printed documents as well as electronic information resources. The collections also comprise:
- books (monographs, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, textbooks, conference proceedings, handbooks, studies, yearbooks),
- specialist journals, daily press,
- diploma theses,
- sound and audiovisual documents.
Theses submitted before 2005 are stored in printed form, theses submitted by TBU students since 2005 are available in electronic format only. There is a steady increase in the number of electronic information resources, electronic books and journals available to TBU students and staff on-line in the TBU computer network or through remote access using the SFX linking service. The collection profile of the TBU Library reflects the specializations of the degree courses offered at TBU in Zlín and is continuously updated. The Library collections also include publications registered as long-term loans for TBU staff. The Department of Collections is in charge of building up and of administration of the Library collections.
